Attorney Bio

Brent M. Thompson is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He minored in English Literature while at USC. Mr. Thompson graduated from the University of San Fernando Law School in 1975. He graduated 2nd in his class and was named outstanding student for the year 1975.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the Law Review, which is the Scholastic Achievement Society in law school. He was also the recipient of numerous scholastic awards. He received the award for outstanding scholastic achievement from West Publishing Company, was a member of the deans honor roll, and received awards for outstanding scholastic achievement in Constitutional Law and Personal Property Law.

Mr. Thompson initially began practicing with his father, Samuel McAfee Thompson, Jr., in 1975 in the Santa Clarita Valley. Brent Thompson is a fourth generation attorney. His grandfather was a judge in Cheyenne, Wyoming for over 40 years. While practicing with his father, Mr. Thompson received valuable jury experience for a number of years. Mr. Thompson opened his practice in Santa Ana, California in 1979, specializing in Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation Injuries. Since that time, Mr. Thompson has tried hundreds of injury cases in front of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and Superior Courts.

In 2004, Brent Thompson secured a jury award of $2.3 million dollars in Orange County Superior Court. Dos Santos vs. Golden Glass: This was a Wrongful Death case involving the death of Charles Dos Santos, originally from Uruguay, South America. Mr. Dos Santos left an 8-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. The jury awarded the daughter, Clarissa, $1.63 million dollars and his surviving son $700,000 for the tragic death of their father in an automobile accident.

In the workers’ compensation arena, Mr. Thompson has tried in excess of 200 cases since 1976. Many cases have resulted in 100% total permanent disability findings and awards. In the workers’ compensation area, a Findings and Award is the equivalent of a jury verdict. Mr. Thompson has secured substantial numbers of Awards providing his clients with lifetime disability benefits and medical care.
